This past week several people reported feeling scattered, foggy, and disconnected. If you felt this way don't worry you weren't alone. I have to admit I had bouts of these feelings as well. So I thought "why not write about how to find comfort, and even balance, in the fog"?
As I began to get frustrated on one particularly foggy day I decided to take a step back and ask "what's really happening here?" There was the weather to consider. It has gotten colder and there were several days that were rainy and literally foggy. Thanks to daylight savings it is getting darker earlier in the day...that alone can mess with your brain.
On a cosmic level it is Mercury Retrograde, a time associated with communication issues and glitches with electronics. I can't even tell you how many times I had random technology issues such as disappearing emails, random program shutdowns, or my computer or phone just going black.
All of this, however, still didn't change the fact that I felt in a fog--uncertain of my next step and not having the drive to act even if I did know it. So I decided to do what I would tell a client to do, acknowledge and embrace that I was in a fog.
"What you resist persists". ~ Carl Jung
Funny thing is once you acknowledge your current experience/state, it begins to change. Even just the acknowledgment "I'm in a fog right now and I'm OK" brings with it its own clarity...and viola you are a little less cloudy...well done :)
What relief, peace and balance could you experience if you allowed yourself to acknowledge and embrace all of you?
Challenge: next time you are experiencing an emotion you consider to be "undesirable", acknowledge what you are feeling and try embracing it.
On a side note: Mercury Retrograde is a terrible time to be starting new projects...but a great time for reflection. As much as I dislike the communication breakdowns, this natural cycle may be one of the Universe's many ways of conspiring for our success. So next time your computer freezes or a program spontaneously shuts down, take it as a sign to go take a break...your
body will also thank you :)
