I love summer time but the longer hours of day light makes it even more challenging for this night owl to go to bed at a reasonable hour. My 3 year old on the other hand has been enjoying waking up at the crack of dawn. This combination of late bed time and getting up earlier and earlier was starting to take its toll. I even noticed my ability to respond to my beautiful, constantly talking daughter was a reflection of what time I went to bed. That first interaction with her often would set the tone for the day as well. Happy, well rested mama...happier family.
How does your day go when you have had a good nights sleep and have honored your bedtime? How does your bedtime affect your mood and impact others in your life?
The best thing you can do for those you love and the world is be a fully healthy you. The relationship you have with yourself is the most important relationship you have in your life but often can be the most neglected.
As much as I love being a night owl, I decided I could no longer afford these habits anymore as it was not allowing me to show up for myself or my family as a fully healthy me. So my self love challenge for the month of July has been going to bed earlier. Throughout this month I have become more and more aware that the amount of sleep I get can determine whether I feel like super woman or more like super crabby.
Take a moment to think about ways that you can love yourself...hint hint many of my past issues offer self love exercises. Even taking a moment to connect to your breath can strengthen your self love muscles and bring you into greater balance. What will your self love practice be for August?
It helps to have support when you take the steps to have healthier habits. Join me this month and post your personal challenge on the 30 Days of Self Love Facebook post.
(My personal self love practice for August will be strengthening my core through planking.)
Remember to celebrate the days you meet your goal and not beat yourself up when you don't...and have FUN as you take each baby step towards becoming a more fully healthy you!
